Carroll's Aflakpui commits to Temple
Archbishop Carroll's Ernest Aflakpui, a 6-foot-10 senior center, committed Sunday evening to play basketball at Temple. "I just think he felt real comfortable with Fran Dunphy and the rest of the Temple coaches," said Terrell Meyers, the director of Aflakpui's AAU team, WeR1. "Coming from Ghana, I think he wanted to experience something different and be in the city."
Aflakpui, who came to Carroll from Ghana in September 2012, chose the Owls over Rhode Island, St. Joseph's, and St. Louis.
He is the second area standout to pick Temple in the last two weeks. Haverford School senior guard Levan Alston committed to Dunphy and the Owls on Sept. 30.
"Academically and athletically, Ernest is looking forward to a challenge," Meyers said. "I think his best days are ahead of him. He's a competitor, heck of a defender, and team-first kind of guy."
