Players of the Weekend
National - Alabama's Blake Sims threw for 445 yards and four touchdowns in a 42-21 win over visiting Florida.
Local - Chris Smallwood (20 carries, 213 yards) broke a 46-year-old Delaware Valley (2-0, 1-0 MAC) record by scoring six TDs in a 54-35 win over Wilkes (1-2, 1-1) in the first home night game in program history.

Temple 59, Delaware State 0
The Owls (2-1), who've matched their win total from last season, lost to an FCS team at home last September. Fordham at least was good. The Hornets (0-4) aren't.
It's the largest margin of victory in program history, surpassing a 56-0 win over Holy Cross in 1974. It was the most points scored by one team at the Linc (the Eagles beat Detroit in 2007, 56-21).
The visitors gained 93 yards and had four turnovers. The Owls also blocked a punt to set up a score. Khalif Herbin returned another 84 yards, the second-longest in Temple history, for his first career TD. Sharif Finch took an interception 65 yards to the end zone.
The lead was 28 after a quarter and 49 at the half. The Owls never had that many before in the first 30 minutes of their modern era (since 1971). They got their last points with 11 minutes to go.
Temple is one of six FBS teams scoring at least 40 a game and allowing fewer than 15. The Owls lead FBS with 14 takeaways, one more than they had in 2013. It was the first time in the modern era that they had a TD on offense, defense and special teams.
This week they're at Connecticut (1-3, 0-1) for their American opener.
Villanova 49, James Madison 31
That's 99 points for the Wildcats in the last two games. It was the CAA opener for the seventh-ranked team in FCS.
The visiting Dukes (2-2, 0-1) led 24-14 early in the third quarter. The Wildcats (2-1, 1-0), who were coming off a bye, scored 28 straight over the next 11 minutes.
John Robertson tied a career-high with four TD passes. He opened the game by completing his first 15. In the previous game he hit his first 17 against then No.-11 Fordham in what became a 50-6 win.
He threw for 337 yards (22-for-27) but carried just 11 times for 19. Kevin Monangai got 129 on 15 and scored twice, which is a good sign.
Vad Lee threw for a school-record 406 yards and three first-half TDs for JMU, which hasn't won here since the Hail Mary game in 2008.
The Wildcats get Penn at Franklin Field this week.
Jacksonville 34, Penn 31
The Quakers finally opened Al Bagnoli's 23rd and final season with their first game ever in Florida. And they led by 12 midway through the fourth quarter. But the Dolphins (2-1) went 86 yards in eight plays to score the winning TD on a 27-yard pass from Kade Bell to D'Andre Randle with 39 seconds left.
Bell is the son of coach Kerwin Bell, the one-time Florida quarterback.
The Quakers led 17-3 early in the second quarter, but Jacksonville scored the next 16. Penn responded with two TDs, but it wouldn't be enough.
Sophomore Alek Torgersen, in his first start, threw for 200 yards, ran for 65 and accounted for two scores.
The Dolphins had moved 67 yards in less than 3 minutes to get within five with 6:18 showing.
The game was played in a driving rainstorm.
Never mind
An email sent by the California athletic department's official store, sent out moments before the end of the Bears' game against Arizona, congratulated them on their win and offered 25 percent off merchandise.
There was only one problem: The Bears, who led by 18 after three quarters and gave up 36 in the fourth, lost on a Hail Mary pass at the end. Oops.
Like most schools, the store is run by an independent contractor. The online site is run by Gameday Merchandise, out of Colorado, which has deals with both Cal and Oregon State.
The store sent out an apology via Twitter.

Alabama's 645 yards were the most ever allowed by Florida. The previous high was 629, in the 1996 Fiesta Bowl loss to national champion Nebraska. The Tide was celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Joe Namath-led national champs.
* After starting 7-0 last year, Miami has now lost six of its last 10. Its two wins this season are against FCS Florida A&M and Arkansas State.
* Texas A&M is 4-0 for the first time since 2006, when it finished 9-4.
* BYU is 4-0 for the first time since 2008, when it went 11-2.
* Wisconsin rushed for 644 yards against Bowling Green, which is the most in the Big Ten's modern era, dating back to 1946. Melvin Gordon did have his first career fumble, on his 322nd carry.
* Nebraska celebrated the 20th anniversary of its 1994 national title against Miami, the team it beat in the Orange Bowl (24-17).
