Former Temple star working out with Sixers

Back from Luxembourgh, Rahlir Hollis-Jefferson practicing for Sixers' summer team in Las Vegas.

FORMER TEMPLE stud Rahlir Hollis-Jefferson spent his first year away from North Broad Street in relaxing fashion for a professional basketball player. He played for AB Contern in Luxembourg, but found enough time to eat his favorite dishes.

Imagine a 215-pounder from Chester, chowing down overseas on pasta and chicken wings, the foods he told reporters he munched on following the Sixers' second Las Vegas Summer League practice Tuesday at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.

But at least Hollis-Jefferson came to practice with the right mindset. Unabashed, he spoke on the amazing opportunity to come back to Philly and play for the Sixers, 19-63 record or not.

"Growing up watching them, going to school in Chester, and playing at Temple, now that I'm here, it just feels pretty amazing," Hollis-Jefferson said, holding his blue-and-red practice jersey.

"I had to do a lot more than I was accustomed. I had to be more aggressive and shoot a lot more, and that's going to help me here, coming home."

Hollis-Jefferson played for the Fran Dunphy-led Temple squad that made the NCAA Tournament two seasons ago before getting booted by Indiana and Victor Oladipo. In his time away from the city, he said he's learned a lot, about himself and about what it takes to play at highest level in the world.

But, when it comes to to vacationing in Luxembourg?

"It was pretty cool, it's a nice country, it's pretty quiet . . . a beautiful place to visit if you wanna ever go," Hollis-Jefferson said, chuckling.
