Temple announces 2011 football schedule

The Steve Addazio era at Temple will begin with the third annual Mayor's Cup against Villanova on Sept. 1.

The Owls will play seven home games at Lincoln Financial Field, including a Sept. 17 game against Penn State, and have three nationally televised dates on the schedule they announced yesterday.

Temple, entering its fifth season in the Mid-American Conference, opens the league schedule at Akron on Sept. 10.

After the Penn State game, the Owls play at Maryland Sept. 24, then host to Toledo on Oct. 1, the first of six consecutive MAC games. The MAC title game is Friday, Dec. 2, at Ford Field in Detroit.

Temple opens spring drills on March 23. The annual Cherry & White Spring Game is set for April 16 at Edberg-Olson Hall. *
