History: Temple leads, 12-7. The Owls won last year in Akron, 56-17.

Akron update: The Zips, under first-year coach Rob Ianello, the former Notre Dame assistant, are coming off a 56-10 home loss to Western Michigan . . . They've dropped 12 straight on the road . . . They've only scored more than 20 points once. They haven't given up fewer than 28 . . . They've been outscored in the second half, 127-32 . . . They've scored 14 TDs, eight on the ground.

Temple update: Owls won first easy one, 42-0 at Buffalo . . . They've won nine in a row at home. The program record is 10, set in 1972-74 at Temple Stadium and the Vet . . . Mike Gerardi got his first start at QB and threw for three TDs . . . Bernard Pierce and Matt Brown became first two Owls to rush for 100 yards in same game since 1997.

Villanova vs. Richmond

History: Villanova leads the series, 20-9, having won the last two meetings. Last year it was 21-20 at RU.

Richmond update: Spiders, under first-year coach Latrell Scott, are ranked 14th in FCS . . . They beat Towson last week, 28-6 . . . They've been hurt by injuries, and are down to fourth-string QB, a freshman. They did have Aaron Corp, a USC transfer . . . Kendall Gaskins has rushed for 380 yards on 71 carries.

Villanova update: The Wildcats, coming off 14-7 home win over now-No. 15 James Madison, are ranked fifth, one spot ahead of Delaware (William & Mary, which has beaten both, is third) . . . All-purpose Matt Szczur will likely be out at least another week . . . Aaron Ball is now second-leading rusher in program history, behind Brian Westbrook . . . Have won 14 in a row at home.

Penn vs. Brown

Records: Brown 4-2, 3-0 Ivy League; Penn 5-1, 3-0.

History: Penn leads, 55-21-2. Brown had won four straight, until Penn won last year at Brown in overtime, 14-7.

Brown update: The Bears are trying to become first Ivy team to win three straight at Franklin Field against Al Bagnoli . . . They beat Cornell at home last week, 27-14 . . . Alexander Tounkara is averaging seven catches a game . . . Joe Springer is completing 60 percent of his passes . . . Freshman Alexander Norocea is 11-for-14 on field goals.

Penn update: The Quakers, ranked No. 20 in FCS, won at Yale, 27-20 . . . They've won 14 straight in October, 11 in a row in the Ivies and eight straight at home . . . They haven't been 6-1 since 2004 . . . Andrew Samson needs four PATs to tie the program record of 95, set by Jason Feinberg (1998-2000) . . . DB Jason Schmucker is the Ivy Defensive Player of the Week.
