St. Joseph's Taylor Funk is A-10 rookie of the week

Funk, the Hawks' 6-foot-9 freshman forward scored 23 and 22 points in his team's two games, both victories.

Freshman forward Taylor Funk of St. Joseph's was named Atlantic 10 rookie of the week after averaging 22.5 points in two games.

The 6-foot-9 Funk scored a career-high 23 points in Saturday's win over Princeton in the Hawks' home opener, shooting 7-of-8 from the field and 5-of-6 from three-point range. Earlier in the week, he scored 22 points, including the three-point basket that sent the game into overtime, in a win at Illinois-Chicago.

Funk, whose 61 points in his first three collegiate games is second on the Hawks' all-time list behind Bernard Blunt, shot 69 percent (16-of-23) from the field and 64 percent (9-of-14) in two games last week.
