Penn State gets commitments from two tackles

Penn State has received oral commitments from a pair of offensive tackles, C.J. Thorpe of Pittsburgh and Rob Martin of Montvale, N.J., for the freshman Class of 2017. Both players announced their decisions on Twitter before Saturday's Blue-White Game.

The 6-foot-4, 304-pound Thorpe, who plays at Pittsburgh Central Catholic, is ranked as the No. 2 offensive tackle in Pennsylvania by Scout.com. He also had offers from Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Tennessee, Maryland, and Stanford, among others.

"After long consideration with my family, I would like to announce I am committing to Penn State," Thorpe wrote on Twitter.

The 6-5, 265-pound Martin, of St. Joseph's Regional High School, is ranked as the No. 5 offensive tackle in New Jersey by Scout.com. Offers were made to him by Maryland, Nebraska, Virginia Tech, and Duke, among others.

"I have committed to my dream school, Penn State," Martin announced on Twitter.

The decisions by Thorpe and Martin bring the number of high school players making commitments to Penn State to six.
