Prep Charter's Karamo Dioubate, a 6-foot-4, 277-pound defensive end and four-star recruit, committed Sunday to Penn State.

The senior from Southwest Philadelphia chose Penn State over Alabama, Auburn, Miami, Michigan State, Ohio State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Tennessee, West Virginia, and Wisconsin, among others. He is the program's 19th player to commit in the Class of 2016.

"Penn State is always strong in football and it has great academics," said Dioubate, 17. "And I found the coaches to be a great bunch of guys."

The Nittany Lions had already received pledges from three other four-star recruits from the Keystone State: Exeter offensive lineman Michal Menet (6-5, 275), Woodland Hills running back Miles Sanders, and Lake-Lehman center Connor McGovern (6-4, 295).

Dioubate earned Inquirer second-team all-Southeastern Pennsylvania honors on defense while helping Prep Charter go 10-1-1 overall and 4-0 in the Public League last season.

"No one has a first step like him," Prep Charter coach David Hand said. "He really explodes off the ball. It's freakish for a guy his size to have that speed."

Another Public League player, Imhotep Charter senior linebacker Shaka Toney (6-3, 210), committed to Penn State last month.
