As things have turned out, the statement issued July 24 by star senior wideout William Fuller, of Roman Catholic High, about his commitment to Penn State's football program was a cause for concern.

In that statement, released through Roman coach Joe McCourt, Fuller said "at the present time" he was remaining committed to the Nittany Lions.

That all changed Sunday.

The 6-1, 170-pound Fuller, whose career thus far has produced 78 catches for 1,450 yards and 19 touchdowns, switched his allegiance to Notre Dame.

McCourt said Fuller, accompanied by his mother, Megan, made an unofficial visit this weekend to South Bend, Ind.

"Will had said all along that Notre Dame was the only other school he would have wanted to go to," McCourt said. "In view of everything going on at Penn State [severe sanctions in the aftermath of the Jerry Sandusky scandal], his family and I thought he should at least visit and check it out.

"I just spoke with him [at about 1:30 p.m.]. Notre Dame, that's where he's going. He said he loved everything about it."
