Penn State picks up second recruit for 2013 class

Penn State picked up its second recruit of the 2013 freshman class Wednesday with four-star cornerback Ross Douglas of Avon, Ohio.

Douglas is a 5-foot-10, 180-pound defensive back from Avon High School. He is a Rivals.com top-250 recruit (242 in the nation). Douglas is the second player to give an oral commitment to new head coach Bill O'Brien. He joins quarterback Christian Hackenberg.

Along with the Nittany Lions, the high school junior was recruited by Florida, Notre Dame, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State and Northwestern, among others.

The Lions will be thin at the defensive back position next season as they lose senior cornerbacks D'Anton Lynn and Chaz Powell. They also graduate safeties Drew Astorino and Nick Sukay.

Only three other defensive backs started games for the Lions last season - freshman cornerback Adrian Amos (one start), junior cornerback Stephon Morris (two starts) and redshirt sophomore safety Malcolm Willis (two starts).

Other defensive backs include cornerbacks redshirt freshman Jeff Cully, redshirt freshman Jesse Della Valle, redshirt sophomore Derrick Thomas and redshirt sophomore Mike Wallace, as well as safeties redshirt freshman Jonathan Duckett, redshirt junior Jake Fagnano, redshirt freshman Ryan Keiser, redshirt sophomore Stephen Obeng-Agyapong and freshman Tim Buckley.

The Lions also added three defensive backs in the 2012 recruiting class - DaQuan Jones, Jake Kiley and Jordan Lucas.
