Penn State's Eric Latimore sacks Northwestern QB Dan Persa. The No. 11 Nittany Lions face No. 14 Ohio State next.
No sooner had Ohio State and Penn State wrapped up their latest victories than both were looking ahead to their critical showdown at Beaver Stadium on Saturday.

"The crowd is going to be against us - especially against me," Buckeyes quarterback Terrelle Pryor said. "But it really doesn't matter. I got my family with me, all 75 [teammates] that travel, and we're going to be ready to rock. I can't wait."

Pryor, who played for Jeannette High in Westmoreland County, was heavily recruited by Penn State.

No. 15 Ohio State has won at least a piece of the last four Big Ten titles. Penn State, now ranked 11th, shared the title with the Buckeyes in 2005 and 2008.

Both are 4-1 in the Big Ten and a game behind unbeaten Iowa, which defeated Penn State earlier in the year and still must play Ohio State.

Longhorns move up. Texas is back to No. 2 in the AP poll.

The Longhorns jumped Alabama and landed right behind top-ranked Florida yesterday, a day after beating Oklahoma State, 41-14.

Alabama, which spent a week at No. 1, slipped to No. 3 during an off week.

Temple earns votes. The Owls (6-2) got one vote in both the Associated Press (writers) poll and the coaches' poll.

Freshman Bernard Pierce is third in the nation in rushing (129 yards per game) for the bowl-eligible Owls (6-2).

Trojans still bowl-bound. Barring a collapse by Oregon, USC's record string of Pac-10 titles will end this season at seven. The Trojans' streak of seven consecutive Bowl Championship Series appearance is far from dead, though.

If USC can win out and finish 10-2, Pete Carroll's team would be a strong candidate for an at-large bid.

Cornhusker in trouble. Nebraska star nose tackle Ndamukong Suh has been ticketed for negligent driving after he hit three parked cars on a narrow Lincoln street.

Police Capt. David Beggs said Suh had been drinking before the accident, which occurred at 2:20 a.m. yesterday, but his blood-alcohol level of .035 percent was well below the legal limit of .08.

Suh, one of the nation's top prospects, said he swerved to avoid a dog or cat.
