Penn State adds wide receiver/defensive back Derrick Thomas

Derrick Thomas, a wide receiver/defensive back from Greenbelt, Md., became the third recruit to give a verbal commitment to Penn State over the weekend, Blue White Illustrated reported. Thomas (6-foot, 177 pounds) reportedly also had scholarship offers from Pittsburgh, Illinois and Maryland, but committed to Penn State on Sunday night. He played cornerback and receiver as a junior.

"They're recruiting me as an athlete, they said that they're either going to play me as a receiver or a DB," he told BWI. "They said it's still up in the air, but they're going to get me on the field."

Thomas went to Eleanor Roosevelt High, the same school that produced wide receiver Derrick Williams.

Safety Stephen Obeng-Agyapong and cornerback Darrell Givens also committed this weekend, giving Penn State six commitments in the class of 2009. *

The name of the cigar store in Bordentown, Ashes to Ashes, has never seemed more apropos than on this weekend afternoon. Joseph Tittel is opening a portal between the living and the dead.

About 30 people have paid Tittel $45 each in the hopes of hearing from their dearly departed. Tittel, a rising local medium, is their pipeline to the afterlife. He is self-taught and unpolished, but he is gaining droves of followers in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
