Penn Relays USA vs. the World event rosters announced

USA Track and Field announced some of the big names who will be coming to Franklin Field this weekend for USA vs. the World at the Penn Relays.

Although the sport's two biggest names - Jamaicans Usain Bolt and Asafa Powell - won't be here, there will be quite a few other people you've heard of.

On the men's side, the United States squad in the 4x100-meter relay will include Walter Dix, Angelo Taylor and Justin Gatlin.

The 4x400 roster will include LaShawn Merritt, Angelo Taylor and Bershawn Jackson.

The men's distance medley relay teams are also star-studded. Bernard Lagat, Khadevis Robinson, Nick Symmonds and Leo Manzano will be among the participants.

International stars on the men's side include Jamaica's Nesta Carter running in the 4x100; and current 400m world champion Kirani James of Grenada in the 4x400.

On the women's side, the United States squad will include Allyson Felix, Sanya Richards-Ross and Carmelita Jeter. They're all Penn Relays and Olympics veterans. One notable omission, though - at least from the official press release - is Lauryn Williams.

The biggest name among the U.S.' women's distance-event runners is Phoebe Wright, who won six Championships of America while at the University of Tennessee.

Among the international runners, you might recognize these names from Jamaica's 4x100 team: Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Kerron Stewart and Sherone Simpson. They've run at Penn before and have had lots of success at the Olympics and other events.

A potential dark horse women's team to watch is Great Britain's 4x400 squad, which won gold at the most recent World Indoor Championships.

The USA vs. the World events at the Penn Relays will be broadcast live on NBC from 1-3 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
