Penn basketball lands Winfield, Jr.

Dave Winfield Jr., the son of the Baseball Hall of Famer, committed to Penn on Friday according to the Los Angeles Times.

A 6-foot-9 senior center at Hollywood's Studio City-Harvard Westlake, has grown six inches in the past two years. He averaged 5.1 points and 4 rebounds per game last season. He was nagged by soreness caused from his growth spurt.

Last season, the Quakers had Marin Kukoc, the son of former 76ers forward Toni Kukoc. Marin Kukoc left the team in September due to a back injury.
