Penn falls flat against Fordham, 60-22

BRONX, N.Y. - Penn put up more than 500 yards of offense, but turnovers and poor defense plagued the Quakers in a 60-22 nonleague loss at Fordham on Saturday.

Alek Torgersen passed for 316 yards and a touchdown for Penn (0-4), but two of his passes were intercepted, and a fumble of his was returned 8 yards by Fordham's DeAndre Slate for a touchdown. Torgersen completed 26 of 49 pass attempts.

The Rams' Mike Nebrich threw for a school-record 566 yards and tied a school record with six touchdown passes.

Fordham's performance also set several records for Penn. The Rams' 737 yards of total offense were the most ever allowed by Penn, Nebrich's passing yardage was a record for a Penn opponent, his six TD passes tied a Penn opponent record, and the 60 points were the most allowed by the Quakers since the Ivy League began play in 1956.

Tebucky Jones Jr. had 10 catches for 203 yards and two touchdowns, and Chase Edmonds finished with 101 yards and a TD on the ground for Fordham (6-1), ranked 18th in the FCS Coaches Poll and 14th in the Sports Network Poll. Nebrich had touchdown passes of 37, 47, 80, 5, 5, and 9 yards. Sam Ajala finished with 199 yards on eight receptions, including the 80-yard score.

Penn's Jimmy Gammill set a school record with five field goals. His 48-yarder was the longest for a Penn kicker since 2004.
