Already the all-time leader in football games played, Penn will reach a milestone today at Brown Stadium in Providence, R.I.

When the Quakers take the field against the Brown Bears in the key Ivy League tilt, Penn will become the first football team in NCAA history to play in 1,300 games.

Yale is second with 1,247 games, followed by Fordham and Lehigh (both with 1,236) and Rutgers (1,235).

"Imagine that, the first team to have played in 1,300 games," said Penn coach Al Bagnoli, who will coach his 175th game in 18 seasons with the Quakers.

While the game marks an impressive historic occasion, Bagnoli realizes that a victory over Brown will mean more to this season's squad.

Penn (4-2, 3-0 Ivy League) hopes to remain unbeaten in league play to stay atop the standings.

The Quakers realize that won't be easy against the Bears (4-2, 2-1). Brown is averaging 32.5 points during its four-game winning streak.

Penn, which has lost four straight meetings in the series, is without starting quarterback Keiffer Garton. The junior will miss his second game in a row with an injured leg. Senior Kyle Olson will start in his place.

The Quakers' defense has come up big all season - it's ranked third nationally in total defense (216.17 yards per game) - and needs to do the same today for Penn to win.
