Price scores 31 points as La Salle tops Towson

TOWSON, Md. - After arguably his team's best statistical defensive half of the season, La Salle coach John Giannini insisted that Saturday night's effort should be the norm.

Jordan Price scored a career-high 31 points, and the Explorers forced 12 first-half turnovers and allowed 15 first-half points en route to a 67-53 victory against Towson.

"We've had 22 halves," Giannini said. "Probably half of them have been like that. Maybe more. . . . I never know when we're going to be really good or really bad. But there's no in between at all."

Jerrell Wright added 10 points for La Salle (6-5).

Steven Zack scored only four points but had a season-high 14 rebounds to help the Explorers to their second win in three games.

"Still waiting to see Jerrell, Jordan, and Steve all get on track on the same night," Giannini said. "I really think if those three guys get on track at the same time, we could be a high-level team."

Four McGlynn scored 14 points for Towson (7-4), which trailed by 32-15 at halftime before briefly closing to within eight points during the second half.

Price scored 21 of the Explorers' 26 points during a stretch of more than 15 minutes that spanned across halftime.

After the Tigers closed to within 40-32 in the second, Price's three from the top of the arc capped another 7-0 run to make it 47-32 with 8 minutes, 43 seconds remaining.

"When you get a couple points in the paint, the team starts doubling and it opens it up for people on the perimeter," Price said. "I've got to make [shots] for them."
