The latest: The Explorers (9-13, 3-6) received 20 points from Johnson and a career-high 19 from freshman Jamir Moultrie on Wednesday night but lost, 84-65, at Davidson. Davidson drained 15 three-pointers. The Explorers shot 42.3 percent and were outrebounded, 35-26. Johnson leads the Atlantic Ten in scoring at 21.2 ppg. … Saint Joseph’s (9-12, 4-5) lost another close game as Saint Louis hit a free throw in the closing seconds for a 60-59 win Wednesday. Taylor Funk scored 21 points and Shavar Newkirk added 16 for the Hawks, who were without leading scorer James Demery (sprained ankle). St. Joe’s has lost three straight and five of its last seven. Nine of its 12 losses have been by a combined 32 points, an average of 3.5.
