LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP) - Tramaine Isabell scored 21 points and grabbed 16 rebounds, and Sammy Mojica hit the go-ahead 3-pointer with 28 seconds to go as Drexel edged Houston 84-80 on Friday in the relocated Paradise Jam.
Tramaine Isabell, a transfer from Missouri, led Drexel with 22 points.
Dragons leader Kurk Lee shot just 3-for-14 from the field, while Falcons guard Justin Turner poured in 33 points.
Kurk Lee, the super quick point guard from Baltimore, had some help last season, but not nearly enough.
The Dragons' guard rotation is five deep and they may use as many as four guards on the floor at once.
Kurk Lee is the leading returning scorer for Drexel after averaging 14.9 ppg. Sammy Mojica and Miles Overton are the top seniors.
Two of the first three games are against NIT qualifiers from last year, Akron and Houston. Drexel will visit La Salle and Temple.
After finishing 10th last season, the Dragons were picked ninth in the preseason poll. College of Charleston is the favorite, along with Towson, Hofstra and Elon.
"I have a whole family that enjoys every game that I play,'' Lee said. "This is bigger than me. It's family."
He held off the veteran Jeff Osberg to prevail in the Golf Association of Phila. event at Overbrook Golf Club.
The St. Joes mens varsity eight qualified for the grand final for the first time since 2005.
