Drexel won at Towson on Saturday for its 20th victory of the season. As their reward, the Dragons, the No. 5 seed, will get a rematch with hapless No. 12 Towson in the first round of the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament on Friday (2:30 p.m.) in Richmond, Va.

If the Dragons (20-9, 11-7 CAA) win, they will get No. 4 VCU on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in the quarterfinals at the Richmond Coliseum. Drexel did not dazzle against Towson, winning just 66-63. No matter, Towson (4-25, 0-18) has not won in 2011 and has found inventive ways to lose.

Interestingly, Jerry Palm (collegerpi.com) has Drexel in the at-large pool at the moment. He makes the Dragons a longshot, but that's better than no shot. That win at Louisville in early December is resonating all the way to March.

In the regular-season finale, Drexel shot 50 percent from the field. It got 19 points from Derrick Thomas, 15 points and nine boards from Dartaye Ruffin, as well as eight points and 13 rebounds from Daryl McCoy.

Drexel has really played poorly in recent years in the CAA Tournament. There will be no excuses against Towson. And, assuming they get VCU, that is a pick-'em game, even in VCU's home town. Drexel lost down there by four points and won up here by the same margin on Wednesday.
