Luck runs out for Drexel, 73-54

RICHMOND, Va. - Drexel's winning record at Virginia Commonwealth's Stuart C. Siegel Center evaporated last night in a 73-54 Colonial Athletic Association defeat.

Larry Sanders had 29 points and 13 rebounds for the Rams (18-7, 10-6 CAA). Jamie Harris led the Dragons (15-13, 10-6) with 20 points and Shannon Givens added 12.

Drexel was one of just two CAA schools with a winning record at the Siegel Center, entering the game with a 3-2 mark. Northeastern is 2-1, but the other nine CAA teams are a combined 5-65 there.

Sanders scored eight straight points midway through the first half as VCU went on a 17-4 run and held Drexel scoreless for more than six minutes. VCU emerged from that run with a 33-21 halftime edge, then started the second half with an 8-2 burst.
