About St. Joseph’s: The Hawks opened with a 61-35 win over Yale, holding the Bulldogs to 13 for 52 shooting (25 percent) and forcing 18 turnovers… St. Joseph’s shot just 16 for 30 from the foul line… The Hawks will be without point guard Carl Jones, sitting out the last of a three-game suspension (including an exhibition game) due to a violation of the University's community standards…Aiken, who normally doesn’t get in foul trouble, played just 21 minutes against Yale and picked up four personal fouls.
About Notre Dame: In Monday’s 84-57 win over Monmouth, Garrick Sherman, a 6-10 transfer from Michigan State, had 22 points and nine rebounds off the bench….Notre Dame has shot just 34 for 56 from the foul line(.607)…The Fighting Irish opened with a 58-49 win over Evansville as Cooley scored 19 points and Martin added 17 rebounds…Notre Dame has shot 10-38 from beyond the arc (.263).
Quotable: “This is a high-level Big East game against a veteran team.” – Mike Brey, Notre Dame coach on St. Joseph’s.
Outlook: For both teams it will be free throw shooting. In addition, St. Joseph’s must keep Aiken out of foul trouble. This figures to be a low scoring game and the first team to 60 could be the winner.
