Reports: Temple in mix for BU transfer

Former Boston University basketball standout Jake O'Brien is considering a transfer to Temple, according to published reports.

The 6-foot-9 forward has one year of eligibility remaining and will be able to play right away. According to CBS Sports college basketball insider Jon Rothstein, O'Brien is also considering Boston College and Virginia. He could make his decision as early as this weekend.

O'Brien, who will be a graduate student, decided to transfer last month because BU was banned from postseason play in the America East Conference after announcing a move to the Patriot League for the 2013-14 season. Without participating in the American East tourney, the Terriers have little to no chance of reaching the upcoming NCAA tournament.

O'Brien was sidelined last season as a medical redshirt after undergoing his second surgery on his left foot.  He originally injured his foot during the 2010-11 season.

O'Brien averaged career highs of 13.8 points and 6.4 rebounds as a sophomore. He was the America East rookie of the year as a freshman.
