Pierce uses 3d-round grade from coach as motivation

Temple tailback Bernard Pierce won't say anything about the upcoming NFL Draft to the media.
However, the junior, who sources say will enter the draft, is expressing his feelings on Twitter. Especially, after his recent conversation with Temple coach Steve Addazio about the draft.
"Coach told me I only have potential to go 3rd round ... that's motivation! Always the under dog," Pierce tweeted.
Addazio has told the media his job is to present all the facts to Pierce and support whatever decision the 6-foot, 220-pounder makes.
The coach believes the only time any underclassman should go to the NFL is if he's a guaranteed first-rounder.

No story here, It's Addazio's job to try and keep Pierce around for another year.
BTW Tweeter?

If any team can get his talent for only a 3rd round pick then this is going to be the deepest draft in history. Zeru- It's not just his talent level. Concerns about his injury history in terms of durability mean alot too. Why pay top dollar for someone who seemingly has a higher chance of getting hurt early on? This has to be part of the equation of only 3rd round prospects.
Addazio is right that he hasn't displayed his ability to pass block or catch the ball out of the backfield. Plus this year has been the only year that he has been relatively healthy.
Aren't first rounders the only draft picks who get any kind of guaranteed money? franknbeans

I don't see Pierce as an NFL starter. He's a power back who isn't really the size of an NFL power back. bobbyd24
I hope he stays and finishes up his senior year. Grind one more season out as an owl. Temple U Owls

If he stays and is able to get to the first round he could be looking at significant money. I have followed him since he arrived at Temple and it is my guess that he will always be injury prone. But he should be able to help an NFL team that has several backs. Byron
Goodluck Pierce its your call to make. Its been fun watching you play. Kerz
Another year at Temple with a QB who uses his secondary and outlet receivers would move him up to the 1st round. He proved he can run, but needs to stay healthy, pass block, and catch. Third-round is probably high enough to motivate him into the draft. damnels
