Penn State announces start times for first two home games

The Penn State season opener against Ohio, a game that will mark the debut of Bill O'Brien as head coach, will start at noon and be televised on ESPN.

Penn State has announced the starting times for its first two home games, including a noon kickoff for Bill O'Brien's debut as head coach, against Ohio on Sept. 1 at Beaver Stadium.

The game against the Bobcats will be televised by ESPN.

The team also said its Sept. 15 home contest against Navy on "Military Appreciation Day" will begin at 3:30 p.m. It will be an ABC regional telecast and will be televised on ESPN2 outside the ABC coverage area.

The Nittany Lions now have announced the kickoff times for six of their 12 games this season. The team said additional start times likely would not be announced by Big Ten television partners until six to 12 days before the specific game, starting with the Sept. 22 game against Temple at Beaver Stadium.

Here are kickoff times and networks announced to date:

Sept. 1: Ohio, noon, ESPN

Sept. 8: At Virginia, noon, 6ABC

Sept. 15: Navy, 3:30 p.m., 6ABC

Oct. 6: Northwestern, noon, TBD

Oct. 20: At Iowa, 8 p.m. (Philadelphia time), BTN

Oct. 27: Ohio State, 6 p.m., ESPN or ESPN2
