Owls add football commitments

POSTED: Sunday, January 29, 2012, 7:29 PM
Filed Under: Football

Bret Niederreither, a senior defensive lineman at Red Land High, and Jamie Gilmore, a  senior running back at North Marion (Fla.), gave oral commitments to play football at Temple on Sunday.

National Signing Day is on Wednesday.

Niederreither, a 6-foot-3, 250-pounder, originally, gave an oral commitment to West Virginia. But he changed his mind after West Virginia defensive coordinator, Jeff Casteel, resigned to coach at Arizona under Rich Rodriguez.

Niederreither chose the Owls over offers from West Virginia and Kent State.

Gilmore, a 5-8, 185-pound speedster, had 14 scholarship offers. He, ultimately, chose the Owls over Western Kentucky and South Florida.

Gilmore is regarded as the nation's ninth-best all-purpose back by Rivals.com.

Good gets. A three star and highly recruited two star kid. That makes Daz's sixth three star recruit. Now pick off a few of the Rutgers kids and we should be in a good place.

Gilmore is no joke ladies and gents. Still has work to do obviously but hes got a little Darren Sproles in him. Very quick and shifty, he will fit nicely in the offense. IF you look at our team as it stands now, adding another burst of speed makes us a very dangerous offense. Im excited.
