Mainland kicker commits to Temple

POSTED: Sunday, June 17, 2012, 8:29 AM

Mainland junior placekicker Jim Cooper Jr. gave an oral commitment Saturday to play football at Temple.

Cooper becomes the Owls' third recruit for the Class of 2013, joining Moorestown offensive lineman Shane Rafter and Montour defensive tackle Tyler Haddock.

Cooper's father, Jim Cooper Sr, kicked at Temple in the 1980s.

Cooper's 24 career field goals are six shy of the South Jersey record held by former Lenape standout Rob Juliano.
