Philadelphia University's Hall of Fame basketball coach, Herb Magee, visited the Catholic chapel at Eastern State Penitentiary. Father Edwin Gallagher, the uncle who raised Magee after he was orphaned, also was the Catholic Chaplain at Eastern State for much of the 1950s. Although Magee went there to play basketball several times with inmates, he was seeing the chapel and his uncle's office for the first time. Herb is chairing a fund-raiser in May to raise funds to restore artwork created by an inmate, Lester Smith, in his uncle's office.
