Columbia drops Penn with second half surge

Leading 28-24 at halftime, the Lions emerged from the break with a 7-0 run in the first two minutes.

The Quakers then ran off a 14-2 run to cut the deficit to 41-40 with 11 minutes, 30 seconds left on Jackson Donahue's three-pointer.

But Columbia (17-7, 6-1 Ivy League) countered with an 11-0 run over a three-minute span to put the game out of reach, snapping the Quakers' two-game win streak.

Jeff Coby, who finished with nine points, scored seven points during that surge. Coby's layup with 2:09 to play made it 63-47.

Alex Rosenburg scored 10 points and had eight rebounds for Columbia, which collected 13 offensive rebounds. The Lions were 25 for 59 shooting from the field but 7 for 19 from the free throw line.

Matt Howard led the Quakers (8-12, 2-4) with 14 points. Donahue chipped in 12 points while Darien Nelson-Henry notched his seventh double-double of the season with 11 points and 11 rebounds to go with a creer high six assists.
