Outlook

The Wildcats head into the season ranked third in the nation in the Football Championship Subdivision. Villanova is the favorite to capture the CAA title this season, but the vision goes far beyond that.

With Walter Payton Award-winning quarterback John Robertson at the helm, the Wildcats have a legitimate shot at winning the national championship. Along with Robertson, the biggest weapon for the Wildcats is running back Gary Underwood, a third team all-CAA honoree even though he played in only eight games because of injury. Wide receiver Kevin Gulyas averaged 25.1 yards per reception. The defense is anchored by all-American linebacker Don Cherry, one of the top FCS defenders in the country, and defensive back Jason Ceneus, the CAA leader in interceptions last season. - John Mitchell
