Villanova head football coach Andy Talley has been named winner of the 2014 Rod Carew Leadership Award by the Be The Match National Marrow Donor Program for his more than 20 years of work in finding bone marrow donors and entering them in a national registry.

Talley, who is entering his 30th year as head coach of the Wildcats, will receive the award on Sept. 12 in Minneapolis.

The Rod Carew Leadership Award, named for the Hall of Famer who spent most of his career with the Minnesota Twins, is presented annually to a person or organization who makes a difference in the lives of patients who received marrow donations and their families. Past winners include Carew, NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon and "Good Morning America" anchor Robin Roberts.
