AJ McCarron threw two touchdown passes and Alabama's retooled defense showed it could still dominate as the second-ranked Crimson Tide pounded No. 8 Michigan, 41-14, on Saturday night in Arlington, Texas.

Even after sending three starting defenders from last year's national championship team to the NFL as first-round draft picks, the No. 2 Crimson Tide threw around the Wolverines while stifling and pounding dual-threat quarterback Denard Robinson.

USC 39, Hawaii 10 - Marqise Lee caught a 75-yard touchdown pass on the first play from scrimmage and returned a kickoff 100 yards for a score, and the top-ranked Trojans rolled over Hawaii in Los Angeles.

Matt Barkley kicked off his Heisman Trophy campaign with 377 yards passing and four touchdowns, and Lee caught 10 passes for 197 yards.

Silas Redd rushed for 57 yards and a touchdown on a team-leading nine carries in the Penn State transfer's debut at USC, which led by 35-0 at halftime and coasted to its 15th consecutive season-opening victory.

LSU 41, North Texas 14 - Kenny Hilliard rushed for 141 yards and two touchdowns, and the No. 3 Tigers opened by beating the Mean Green in Baton Rouge, La.

Florida State 69, Murray State 3 - Lonnie Pryor, James Wilder Jr., and Debrale Smiley combined for seven rushing touchdowns to lead the No. 7 Seminoles over the Racers in Tallahassee, Fla.

Arkansas 49, Jacksonville State 24 - Tyler Wilson set the school record for yards passing in a season opener, finishing 19-of-27 passing for 367 yards and three touchdowns as the No. 10 Razorbacks beat the Gamecocks in Fayetteville, Ark.

West Virginia 69, Marshall 34 - Geno Smith threw for 323 yards and four touchdowns to lead the No. 11 Mountaineers over the Thundering Herd in Morgantown, W.Va.

Wisconsin 26, Northern Iowa 21 - Montee Ball rushed for 120 yards and a touchdown, and the No. 12 Badgers needed a big defensive play to survive a fourth-quarter scare from the Panthers in Madison, Wis.

Clemson 26, Auburn 19 - Andre Ellington rushed for 231 yards, DeAndre Hopkins set a school record with 13 receptions and No. 14 Clemson opened the season with a victory over Auburn in Atlanta.

Texas 37, Wyoming 17 - Joe Bergeron and Malcolm Brown both rushed for more than 100 yards and combined for three touchdowns to lead the Longhorns over the Cowboys in Austin, Texas.

Nebraska 49, Southern Mississippi 20 - Taylor Martinez threw for a career-high 354 yards and matched his high with five touchdown passes to lead the No. 17 Cornhuskers over the Golden Eagles in Lincoln, Neb. The Huskers won their nation-leading 27th straight opener.

Ohio State 56, Miami (Ohio) 10 - Braxton Miller rushed for 165 yards, a record for a Buckeyes quarterback, and threw for two scores, including Devin Smith's highlight-reel, one-handed catch as 18th-ranked Ohio State ushered in the Urban Meyer era with a win over the Redhawks in Columbus, Ohio.

Oklahoma State 84, Savannah State 0 - Jeremy Smith and Desmond Roland ran for three touchdowns apiece, and Wes Lunt completed all 11 of his passes in a brief first outing as the new starting quarterback for the No. 19 Cowboys, who beat the outmatched Tigers in Stillwater, Okla.

Kansas State 51, Missouri State 9 - Collin Klein threw for 169 yards and two touchdowns, John Hubert ran 95 yards for a fourth-quarter score, and the No. 22 Wildcats pulled away late to beat the Bears in Manhattan, Kan.

Florida 27, Bowling Green 14 - Mike Gillislee had a career-high 148 yards rushing and two touchdowns, helping the No. 23 Gators beat the Falcons in Gainesville, Fla.
