Immaculata wins a pair with ease

Immaculata's pitching staff combined for 18 strikeouts in two shutouts Friday as the Mighty Macs overpowered the host Rosemont Ravens - 15-0 and 10-0 - in Colonial States Athletic Conference action.

In the opener, Danielle Palmisano allowed three hits and struck out eight batters, and the Mighty Macs exploded for seven runs in the third to put the game out of reach.

Christiana Donofry led Immaculata at the plate going 3 for 4 scoring, two runs and posting two RBIs. Palmisano, Dana Disney, Dana Bozzetto, Samantha Strickland, and Allison Zborowski had two hits each.

In the nightcap, Meagan Fitzgerald pitched a one-hitter and struck out 10 for the win.

Beth Anne Kircher's single plated Nikki Curcione and would later score on Brittany Merkle's single to put the Mighty Macs ahead 2-0 in the top of the second.

Curcione and Jessica DeCastro finished the game going 2 for 4 at the plate. Kircher and Maleaha Himmons went 2 for 3 and posted two RBIs each.

 

Slippery Rock women win

The Slippery Rock women's lacrosse team used separate five goal runs in each half to defeat the visiting Millersville Marauders, 18-15, in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action Friday at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.

 

Temple beats Monmouth

Temple brought nine men to the plate in a four-run seventh inning in the Owls 5-3 win over their hosts, the Monmouth Hawks, Friday afternoon at Kessler Field in West Long Branch, N.J.

Following the game, both teams decided to postpone Saturday's 1 p.m. game due to heavy rain in the forecast for West Long Branch. It will be made up at a later date.
