VCU is selling shirts on its athletic website that say, "There goes my bracket!" affixed with a balled-up piece of paper in honor of its 71-61 upset of Kansas in the Elite Eight on Sunday.

"What more can I say about this group of guys? Every time this group is doubted, they respond in an overwhelming way," said VCU coach Shaka Smart.

The shirt retails for $19.95 and is a shot to the millions who didn't consider VCU past the second round. According to ESPN, of the 5.9 million people who participated in its bracket challenge, only two have the Final Four pairing of VCU vs. Butler and Kentucky vs. Connecticut.

Furthermore, go figure that one of the two entrants left standing in the ESPN bracket admitted he doesn't even follow college basketball.

Joe Pearlman, an information technology guru from East Brunswick, N.J., is the leader of the bracket challenge and stands to collect $10,000 should he win the whole shebang. Pearlman told the New York Times that his thought process consisted of teams with coaches he "thought highly of" or "were due for a big run."

As for VCU? "That was mostly just luck," Pearlman confessed.

Score one for Ochocinco

Despite showing the technical and tactical abilities of a sixth-grader, Cincinnati Bengals wideout Chad Ochocinco made the reserve squad of Major League Soccer's Sporting Kansas City following a 5-day tryout.

According to an Associated Press report, Ochocinco is an "honorary member" who will work out with the team during the week. He will not be given a contract or earn a salary, but will use the opportunity to stay in shape.

"This is so awesome I'm an honorary member of SportingKC and can train with the reserve team as long as I want," Ochocinco posted on Twitter. "Totally awesome ILuvKC."
