Banged-up Wolverines to play against Penn St.

Robinson was knocked out of the Wolverines' last game with an injured right shoulder. Running backs Mike Shaw and Fitzgerald Toussaint have been slowed by knee and ankle injuries.

Bruins suspended. UCLA has suspended receiver Ricky Marvray and offensive tackle Sean Sheller for an undisclosed violation of team rules. Coach Rick Neuheisel has suspended four starters in two weeks for violations he wouldn't disclose.

No more cowbells? The Southeastern Conference is poised to levy fines against Mississippi State for violating the league's noisemaker policy related to its tradition of ringing cowbells at games.

The SEC this summer made a one-year rule allowing Mississippi State fans to ring cowbells provided it was in dead-ball situations like halftime, time-outs and after touchdowns.

Players of the week. Temple junior DT Muhammad Wilkerson was named the Mid-American Conference defensive player of the week for the East division. . . . Penn junior DB Jason Schmucker was named the Ivy League defensive player of the week.

'Nova moves up in poll. Villanova (5-2) moved up a spot to No. 5 in The Sports Network/Fathead.com Football Championship Series top 25 poll, while Penn (5-1) dropped down one to No. 21.

Kutztown makes history. Kutztown (8-0) reached its highest ranking in the 95-season history of the program this week, climbing to No. 15 in the America Football Coaches' Association top 25 Division II poll.
