History: Army leads series, 4-3, but Temple has won last two. Last year, it was 27-13 at the Linc.

Temple update: Owls lost at Penn State, 22-13 . . . RB Bernard Pierce, who scored both TDs, left in third period with an ankle injury and will be a game-time decision . . .Defense has given up just one TD in each of last three games . . . Chester Stewart is 51-for-89 for 556 yards, with two TDs and three INTs . . . Next week Owls go to Northern Illinois in a potential MAC title-game preview.

Army update: Black Knights are off to their best start in 14 years . . . They run the option, don't throw much, win the turnover battle and don't take many penalties . . . Broke 17-game road losing streak against ACC last week at Duke . . . Lone loss was to visiting Hawaii, on a late field goal.

VILLANOVA AT WILLIAM & MARY

Records: Villanova 3-1, 1-0 Colonial Athletic Association; W & M 3-1, 1-1.

History: W & M leads, 14-13-1. But 'Nova has won last six, including last year's national semifinal.

Villanova update: Top-ranked, defending FCS national champion Wildcats beat Penn last week, 22-10 . . . They're banged up. Most notable question mark is all-purpose Matt Szczur (ankle), who will be a game-time decision . . . Chris Whitney is completing 71 percent of his passes.

W & M update: The Tribe, ranked No. 7, overcame an 11-point deficit to win at Maine, 24-21. Michael Paulus, a transfer from North Carolina and brother of the former Duke basketball player, will start at QB. He came in last week after Mike Callahan was injured and threw a game-winning, 21-yard TD with 20 seconds to go.

PENN VS. DARTMOUTH

Records: Dartmouth 2-0, 0-0 Ivy League; Penn 1-1, 0-0.

History: Penn leads the series, 43-32-2, having won the last two games and 11 of the last 12.

Dartmouth update: Big Green hasn't won here in 13 years . . . Dartmouth has beaten Bucknell (43-20) and Sacred Heart (21-19) . . . Averages more than 200 yards a game on the ground . . . Dartmouth has allowed one sack, lowest total in nation . . . Ranks next-to-last in Ivies in total defense.

Penn update: Al Bagnoli can tie George Woodruff's school record for wins (124 from 1882-1901) . . .

QB Keiffer Garton probably will play some, after sitting out so far while recovering from offseason knee surgery . . . RB Lyle Marsh is gone after breaking his arm last week. But Mike DiMaggio should be back from a hamstring injury.
