Temple signs Golden to 5-year deal as football coach

Temple football coach Al Golden, who had two years left on the contract he signed upon taking over the Owls in 2005, has agreed to a new five-year deal with the university.

Temple football coach Al Golden, who had two years left on the contract he signed upon taking over the Owls in 2005, has agreed to a new five-year deal with the university.

Last fall, Golden guided Temple to its most successful season in 30 years as the Owls went 9-4 and reached the Eagle-Bank Bowl in Washington where Temple lost to UCLA, 30-21.

During the regular season, Temple tied for the Mid-American Conference East Division title with a 7-1 record.
