Temple will open its football season with three consecutive home games at Lincoln Financial Field, including the opener against Villanova in the second annual Mayor's Cup.

The date has not been set for the game against the Wildcats, the defending FCS national champions, although it will be Labor Day weekend, likely Thursday, Friday or Saturday. The date is pending the release of the Eagles' preseason schedule.

Temple returns 56 lettermen, including 16 starters, from a team that went 9-4 last year and lost to UCLA in the EagleBank Bowl.

The Owls open their fourth Mid-American Conference season on Sept. 11 against visiting Central Michigan, then host Connecticut in a nonconference game. Temple then has three consecutive road games at Penn State (Sept. 25), Army (Oct. 2) and MAC opponent Northern Illinois (Oct. 9).

The remainder of the schedule is all MAC games, including two nationally televised Tuesday night games to end the season - against visiting Ohio on Nov. 16 and at Miami (Ohio) on Nov. 23. Both are on ESPN2.

Temple begins spring drills on March 20. The annual Cherry & White intrasquad scrimmage is set for 2 p.m. April 17 at Chodoff Field at Edberg-Olson Hall. *
