Martha White shot 10-for-15 en route to 22 points, but Kristen Hanzer's only basket proved to be the game-winner as UNC-Wilmington held off visiting Drexel, 60-58, yesterday in a Colonial Athletic Association women's game.
Hanzer's jumper with 1:53 remaining was the last of 10 lead changes and gave the Seahawks a 59-58 lead. UNC-W missed the front end of two one-and-ones down the stretch before Drexel inbounded with 7 seconds left and a chance to win. But Gabriela Marginean (16 points) lost the ball and the Seahawks (11-17, 6-11) added another free throw with 1 second left.
Jasmina Rosseel scored 19 points to lead the Dragons (17-11, 11-6).
In other games:
* Mariame Djouara scored 17 points to help Saint Joseph's to a 69-58 Atlantic 10 victory over visiting Duquesne (19-10, 9-5). Brittany Ford added 11 points for the Hawks (16-13, 9-5).
* La Salle (7-22) finished their season in just about the worst way possible - not with a loss, but with a coin flip.
The Explorers (2-12 Atlantic 10) lost to Dayton, 62-46, Saturday to end their regular season, but were still alive for a conference tournament berth. That failed to come about when, after remaining tied with Fordham for that last spot through all the tiebreakers, they lost a coin flip to the Rams last night.
Fordham (8-21) gets the 12th seed and a first-round match Friday with fifth-seeded Saint Joseph's.
