Coming off a win over No. 1 Richmond, Villanova has moved up to No. 3 in The Sports Network's Football Championship Subdivision poll.

Villanova (8-1) received 32 first-place votes and moved up one spot from No. 4 after its 21-20 upset of the Spiders, who dropped to fourth.

Southern Illinois (8-1) took over the top spot, jumping over Montana (9-0), which remains second and received 64 first-place votes.

Only 35 points separate the top three teams.

Wildcats quarterback Chris Whitney was named the Colonial Athletic Association co-Offensive Player of the Week for completing 21 of 34 passes for 277 yards and a career-high three touchdowns against Richmond.

He shared the honor with Rhode Island receiver Shawn Leonard.

McManus kicked an 18-yard game-winning field goal with 3 seconds remaining to give the Owls their seventh consecutive win, a 34-32 victory over Miami. He had two field goals and four extra points on the night.
