PLAYERS OF THE WEEKEND

National

Matt Hogan kicked a 51-yard field goal as time expired to give Houston a 46-45 win over Tulsa. Before that, he hadn't made one longer than 34.

Local

On a fourth-and-11 with a minute left, Brandyn Harvey caught a Chris Whitney pass in traffic with one hand and took it in for a 29-yard touchdown to give Villanova a 21-20 win at No. 1 Richmond, the defending FCS champion, which had won 17 in a row (see story, page 81).

AROUND TOWN

Penn 42, Princeton 7

The Quakers (6-2, 5-0 Ivy League) got three touchdown passes from Kyle Olson (20-32, 238 yards) at Franklin Field. Lyle Marsh carried 12 times for 99 yards.

The Tigers (2-6, 1-4) rushed for 25 yards.

The Quakers have won six straight, for the first time in 5 years.

They will now head to Harvard (6-2, 5-0), to decide the title. Harvard has won four of the last five meetings. Last year the Crimson won here, 24-21, to deny the Quakers a share of the crown.

Penn hasn't finished first since 2003. In 2004, it took a six-game winning streak to Harvard and lost, 31-10.

Delaware Valley 45, Albright 16

The host Aggies (8-1, 6-0 Middle Atlantic Conference) scored the first 31 points against the previously unblemished Lions (8-1, 5-1).

They will go to the NCAA Division III playoffs for the third time, and first since 2005, because they hold the tiebreakers. The tournament begins Nov. 21. They close the regular season this week at Widener.

It's their second straight MAC title, and fourth in 6 years (solo or shared).

AROUND THE NATION

Fraud five

Some weeks, you've got enough material for a book ...

-- Notre Dame: Don't think consecutive home losses to Navy is helping that BCS bowl push. Good thing Temple isn't on the dance card. And the Owls came dangerously close to making it here themselves.
