Penn State quarterback Daryll Clark and defensive end Aaron Maybin were named Big Ten players of the week yesterday for their performances in the Lions' 48-7 win over Wisconsin.
Clark threw for a career-high 244 yards and a touchdown on 16-of-25 passing and rushed for two TDs in earning offensive-player-of-the-week honors. Maybin, who had six tackles, 3 1/2 tackles for loss, a sack and two forced fumbles, shared defensive-player-of-the-week honors with Minnesota's Willie VanDeSteeg.
The pair became the fourth and fifth Penn State players to win player-of-the-week honors, joining returner Derrick Williams, running back Evan Royster and linebacker Navorro Bowman.
Penn State, ranked No. 3, hosts Michigan on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. on ESPN. The Big Ten also announced yesterday that the Lions' Oct. 25 game at Ohio State will be broadcast on ABC at 8 p.m.
Ivy honors Wynn. Penn never trailed en route to a 27-7 win over Georgetown on Saturday, largely due to the efforts of junior Chris Wynn, who ran 88 yards for a touchdown on the opening kickoff.
Wynn's second career kickoff return touchdown earned him Ivy League special-teams player-of-the-week honors, the league announced.
Wynn's effort was the first kickoff return touchdown for the Quakers since Tyler Fisher raced 96 yards against Columbia on Oct. 13, 2007. It was also the first time in at least 25 years that a Penn player has returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown.
This marks the second consecutive week a Penn player has won the league's special teams honor. Sophomore kicker Andrew Samson was honored last week.
