Rising sons on local card

A N OLYMPIC medal winner and the sons of two former heavyweight champions highlight a boxing card at the Deck in Essington on Thursday.

Yordenis Ugas (13-1, six knockouts), who won bronze in 2008, will take on Adan Hernandez in a 10-round welterweight bout. Hernandez is 15-7, with six KOs.

Tim Witherspoon Jr., son of the former heavyweight champ from Philadelphia, will take on Josh Beeman, of Providence, R.I., in a four-round welterweight bout. Witherspoon is 9-3-1 with two KOs, and Beeman is 4-11-4 with two KOs.

Isiah Seldon (7-0, three KO), son of former champ Bruce Seldon, takes on Lekan Byfield (3-4-2), of Atlanta. Seldon is from Atlantic City.

Tyrone Crawley Jr. (3-0), whose father was a local middleweight, takes on Christian Steele (3-5-1, 1 KO), of Philadelphia.
