Vick had concussion; Return in question
Jeff McLane
ATLANTA -- Michael Vick suffered a concussion in in the Eagles' 35-31 loss to the Falcons Sunday night.
Vick suffered the concussion in the third quarter when he was knocked into Eagles tackle Todd Herremans. The quarterback was replaced by Mike Kafka.
Eagles coach Andy Reid said that the team wouldn't know if Vick will be ready for next week's game against the Giants until he undergoes testing over the next few days. Theoretically, Vick could be cleared to play by Sunday.
A team source described the concussion as "slight" and said that Vick was able to describe the play in which the concussion occured. Still, a one-game absence is usually the norm.
If Vick can't go, Kafka could be his replacement. The second-year quarterback completed 7 of 9 passes for 72 yards in relief of Vick. Kafka was the backup because Vince Young did not dress for the second straight with a hamstring strain. Reid said Young was getting closer to a return.
Eagles coaches and players said they were confident with either Kafka or Young if Vick has to sit out next week.
Team may have to cut a player and pick up a back up QB for next week. That sucks. Good bye Hunt. Penfold18
Kafka would be fine with all the snaps for a week djack10
This offensive line is going to get Vick killed. p-diddy
NOW what are you going to do Andy? PLEASE, put him back on the field, asap. Hopefully the Giants D will finish this lowlife off, once and for all. sackvicknow- Amen.
Luke Elliot - Like we used to say in grade school, which is appropriate for you because you're exhibiting those kinda signs......takes one to know one.
