Brandon McManus, a placekicker and punter at Temple, won the College Football Performance Awards Specialist Trophy on Friday.

“After an extensive review of existing data, literature, and evidence, it has been determined that Temple’s Brandon McManus finished the 2012 season with the strongest combined placekicking, kickoff and punting performance in Division I [Football Bowl Subdivision] football,” CFPA executive director Bradley C. Smith said in a press release.

In addition to leading the Owls in scoring, the senior made 6 of 7 field-goal attempts of 40 yards or more. His longest was a 50-yarder against South Florida. McManus also averaged 45.1 yards per punt. He had 15 punts longer than 50 yards and career-best 68-yarder against Rutgers.

The first-team all-Big East selection ends his career as Temple’s all-time leader in scoring (338 points), field goals made (60), field goals attempted (83) and punting average (45.5 yards).
