Among the many tasks I've done while at Philly.com is moderating comments on our site's blog posts and news articles. So I have a hunch that what I'm about to write will generate a rather substantial reaction.

President Obama has picked Villanova to go to the Final Four.

For the second year in a row, Obama has sent his bracket to ESPN for public consumption. This year, he has filled out a bracket for the women's field as well.

As of now, ESPN has only released the teams Obama has in the tournaments' respective Final Fours. On the men's side, he has Kansas, Kansas State, Kentucky and Villanova. On the women's side, he has Connecticut, Stanford, Notre Dame and Tennessee.

Obama's full men's bracket will be released tomorrow at noon. His women's bracket will be released Friday at 9 a.m.

I will now get out of the way.

Remember when the media fawned over Barry's bracket picks in the run-up to last year's tournament? The thing was completely busted after the first day. Excellent foreshadowing on year 1 of his presidency.

I hope I am wrong, but I think Duke avenges last years game. I know Nova won some big games this year, I just can't remember that far back.

He's as out of touch with Villanova's recent play as he is with the people's opinion of his health care plan.

Hard to believe, Harry. I have played sports all of my life...I make my living in politics. The world would be a better place if athletes kept their political views to themselves and politicians didn't bet cheesesteaks on sporting events. Who cares what the President thinks about Villanova's 3/4 court trap or if Fran Dunphy can beat a former assistant? GO OWLS!...GO CATS!...and for the sake of the 30 million people who will now have insurance under the President's health plan...GO OBAMACARE!

Obama probably knows more about basketball than all of you, including me. This is for fun, so give your political griping a rest. If you weren't interested, then why did you read the article and then post? Idiots.

About Jonathan Tannenwald
I fell in love with the Big 5 at first sight upon moving to Philadelphia in 2002. At various points in my journalistic career, I've covered all six of the region's Division I teams. During that time, I've eaten many soft pretzels from the Palestra's concession stands, which is how this blog got its name.

I write primarily about the University of Pennsylvania and the Ivy League, but I also cover the other basketball and football teams across the city from time to time. In the spring, you'll find coverage of the Penn Relays here.

In addition to all of that, I write Philly.com's soccer blog, The Goalkeeper.
