McNabb, who is expected to be formally introduced as a Redskin in Washington Tuesday, released a statement through his publicist. He was at his home in Arizona today.

“I’m really excited about my future with the Washington Redskins,” McNabb said. “I’m eager to work with coach [Mike] Shanahan. He’s been a very successful coach with a couple of Super Bowl victories on his resume. While it has been my goal to win a Super Bowl in Philadelphia, we came up short. I enjoyed my 11 years and know that we shared a lot more good times than bad."

McNabb, according to his agent Fletcher Smith, has not agreed to a contract extension with the Redskins -- yet.

Donovan was always a great team player. He shows a lot of class now as he always has. It will be interesting to see how he does with different coaching. He states that Shanahan has two winning SuperBowl credentials, and also NOT stating that Reid does not. But the comparison is there. What would happen if the Eagles tank this season and McNabb finally gets a Super Bowl victory? Would we finally be ready to admit that the problem is coaching and management? What if the Eagles win a Super Bowl now, and Donovan and The Redskins finish second, as he usually does? Would everyone finally agree that McNabb reached his pinnacle, and it was a high one, many years ago? In any event we have to give cudos to one of the great quarterbacks the Eagles ever had, and a really classy guy. I just won't miss him on game day. Its was just too painful to watch every "almost" drive, every "almost" victory, and every "almost" championship season.McNabb was "almost" one of the greatest quarterbacks the Eagles ever had. In 2005 he was four points short of that honor, but it was "almost" a Super Bowl victory.
