We like to say that the first Thursday and Friday of the NCAA Tournament are the best days of the year in sports. But for many college basketball fans, Selection Sunday is the most nerve-wracking.

It won't be as bad around here as it could be, because we know that Temple, Villanova and Lehigh are all safely in the field. But now we find out which seeds those teams will get, as well as where they'll play this week and next.

There's also the not-so-small matter of the other 62 teams in the field. How far our local programs will advance depends as much on the teams they face as their own talent.

Now the waiting is over. It's time for this year's NCAA Tournament bracket to be unveiled.

About Jonathan Tannenwald
I fell in love with the Big 5 at first sight upon moving to Philadelphia in 2002. At various points in my journalistic career, I've covered all six of the region's Division I teams. During that time, I've eaten many soft pretzels from the Palestra's concession stands, which is how this blog got its name.

I write primarily about the University of Pennsylvania and the Ivy League, but I also cover the other basketball and football teams across the city from time to time. In the spring, you'll find coverage of the Penn Relays here.

In addition to all of that, I write Philly.com's soccer blog, The Goalkeeper.
