Kurt Busch to join Stewart Haas racing in 2014
KURT BUSCH is expected to be named the fourth driver next year for Stewart-Haas Racing at a news conference today in Kannapolis, N.C., according to several reports.
Busch will leave the single-car Furniture Row operation at the end of the season. Busch, the 2004 NASCAR Sprint Cup champion, is 12th in points, with two races remaining before the Chase begins. Busch (zero wins this season) is six points behind 10th-place driver Joey Logano.
Kevin Harvick, fourth in points, also will join Stewart-Haas next year, replacing Ryan Newman. Tony Stewart, recuperating from a broken leg suffered in a racing accident, and Danica Patrick are the other SHR drivers.
In another Cup series development, Scott Miller, vice president of competition at Michael Waltrip Racing, will take over as crew chief of the No. 55 Toyota team the rest of the season. Brian Vickers is driving the car the rest of the year. Miller replaces Rodney Childers, who announced last weekend he'll be Harvick's crew chief next year.
