Eagles quarterback Michael Vick said that he was "shocked" when Washington coach Mike Shanahan benched quarterback Donovan McNabb with under two minutes left in a close Redskins-Lions game on Sunday.
"Absolutely, very shocked that he was pulled from the game in crunch time," Vick said when asked for a reaction to how his friend and former teammate was pulled with the Redskins trailing by six with 1:45 remaining. "But we never know what the situation may be or what happened or if there was an injury ... so we really can't speak on it or have judgment on the situation."
After a bye week, the Redskins are slated to host the Eagles on Monday, Nov. 15. Shanahan said Sunday after the game that McNabb would start against the Eagles.
Other Eagles players, who returned to practice Monday after a bye week, were dumbfounded by the move that has sparked national debate.
